About

My name is Alex “Ice Axe” Evans. I am an avid hiker and backpacker. Pursuing these passions was not always easy as I was battling the effects of undiagnosed leg length discrepancy (LLD), gluten intolerance, and intestinal permeability. Thanks to years of hard work, a few passionate doctors, and the support of my family, I was able to transition from suffering through painful 3 mile day hikes to backpacking a near 700 mile section of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT).

In the articles that follow, I chronicle the challenges of long distance hiking with an LLD, the insights gained while maintaining a restrictive diet on the trail, and above all the incredible people and views I encountered along the way. I hope that my ongoing journey will entertain, inspire, and educate. Above all, if you are facing similar challenges may these articles empower you to embark on your adventure.
